The directory, articles, videos and monthly classes are all free to the public, and the Alliance never charges visitors for its educational resources. The one paid program is Major Claim Support, an optional annual membership that funds the hands-on work of helping a member through a major medical event.

Yes. It is a membership program, not a free service: an annual donation starting at $150 for an individual, with plans for couples, families and businesses. See Major Claim Support for full donation amounts and what each tier includes.

No. The Monterey Bay Holistic Alliance is rooted in Monterey County and Santa Cruz County, where our practitioner directory, in-person events and free monthly classes are based — but many of our educational benefits and services reach much further. Major Claim Support helps members anywhere in the United States navigate a major medical event, and our free articles, videos and Healthcare Quick Guides are available online to visitors across all of California and the nation, all 50 states.

Apply through our Practitioner Partner application — open to all holistic, complementary and alternative disciplines. Every application is reviewed by our staff before it goes live, and approved listings carry a $25/year enrollment fee.

No. Everything published by the Alliance, including its health articles, is educational and not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a licensed medical professional. See our full disclaimer.

No. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, contact local emergency services or a 24/7 crisis hotline in your area.

No. MBHA cannot guarantee claim approval, reversal of denials, bill reductions, debt relief outcomes, or grant/fundraising success. Outcomes depend on insurer, provider and funder rules, eligibility, documentation, deadlines and third-party decisions.

No. MBHA does not hold, receive, route or control funds raised for members — all donations and grant funds are paid directly to the member or the recipient set by the fundraising platform or funder. MBHA’s help with fundraising does not make those donations tax-deductible; donors should consult a tax professional. MBHA may also refer members to third-party resources, but does not endorse, control or guarantee them. See our full disclaimer.

Document preparation — appeal letters, bill organizing, hardship and assistance applications — is billed at $20/hour in 15-minute increments, and only when you request and authorize it. It is separate from your annual membership. Additional fees may apply for third-party services you choose, such as mailing, printing or platform fees.

Only if you ask for it. If you request fundraising or grant support, a success fee of 10% applies to net funds received (gross receipts minus mandatory processing fees), only when MBHA has documented involvement, and only after the funds are received and documented. It is set out in MBHA’s separate Success Fee Agreement. MBHA never holds, receives or routes the money raised — it goes directly to you or the recipient set by the platform or funder. If nothing is raised, no success fee is owed.
