A benefit most small employers can’t otherwise offer
Large companies can afford dedicated benefits-navigation vendors; most small and mid-sized employers cannot. MBHA’s Business Membership was built specifically for that gap — a $250 one-time setup plus $50 per year per enrolled employee (3-employee minimum), which brings the same navigation support — ongoing help with medical bills, insurance denials and charity-care paperwork — within reach of a local employer with a handful of staff.
Why this is worth an employer’s attention
An employee working through an unresolved medical bill or insurance denial is dealing with a real, time-consuming problem during working hours, whether or not it shows up on a timesheet. Offering a straightforward way to get that resolved is not a wellness slogan — it is a concrete, practical benefit aimed at one of the more disruptive things an employee's household can be dealing with, at a price point most employee-benefit categories cannot match.
It is also a values statement that costs relatively little to back up: a locally-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit benefit signals that an employer is willing to help with something real, not just offer another unused perk.
What your team actually gets
- An employee onboarding handout and an annual orientation webinar, so staff understand the benefit before they ever need it.
- Employee access to Major Claim Support — ongoing navigation help with medical bills, insurance denials and charity-care paperwork — and to MBHA’s Healthcare Quick Guides library.
- A dedicated employer admin contact, so questions about the benefit go to one consistent person rather than a general inbox.
- The Monthly Wellness Program for every enrolled employee, at no added cost.
What this looks like in practice — an illustrative scenario, not an actual case:
An enrolled employee gets a confusing denial letter after a specialist visit. Instead of spending their own evenings on hold with the insurer, or bringing it to HR (who aren’t equipped to review it anyway), they contact their MBHA navigator directly. The employer never sees the bill or the diagnosis — only the enrollment count on the next invoice. That separation is by design: it’s a benefit HR can offer without HR ever having to get involved in an employee’s personal medical situation.
How the cost works
Pricing is a flat $250 one-time setup fee, then $50 per year for each employee you enroll, with a 3-employee minimum. Because headcount varies by business, MBHA does not sell this tier through a self-serve checkout — a short form on the membership page collects your estimated employee count and contact details, and MBHA follows up directly to confirm enrollment and send an invoice sized to your business.
Getting started
The employer setup form is on MBHA’s Membership & Pricing page, under “For Employers.” It takes a few minutes, and there is no commitment until MBHA follows up to confirm your employee count and enrollment details.

Common questions
Is this health insurance, or a replacement for our benefits plan? No. It is a navigation-and-advocacy benefit that helps employees use the insurance and assistance systems that already exist — it does not provide coverage itself.
Does it duplicate our Employee Assistance Program? Most EAPs focus on counseling and referrals rather than hands-on help with medical bills, denials and charity-care paperwork — the two are complementary, not overlapping.
What’s the minimum commitment? Three enrolled employees and an annual term, priced at $250 setup plus $50 per employee per year, as outlined above.
