Membership Plans & Pricing

Start free, or join a paid tier that funds hands-on help with a major medical event — for the price of a nice dinner out, once a year.

Before you join: MBHA is not medical, legal or tax advice. There is no outcome guarantee. MBHA never holds or routes member funds. This is a fee-for-service program that helps fund our free community education and outreach. Read more about what Major Claim Support does in detail.

Choose your tier

Start free, or pick the paid plan that fits your household

Every tier is laid out below so you can compare them side by side. Free costs nothing and just gets you on our list; paid membership is an annual donation to the Alliance, billed once a year — the monthly figure under each price is just for comparison, not a separate payment plan.

For employers

Offer it as a low-cost employee benefit

A $250 one-time setup, then $50/year per enrolled employee (3-employee minimum) — most small local employers couldn’t otherwise offer this kind of support.

Why this is worth your attention:

  • A concrete, practical benefit aimed at one of the more disruptive things an employee’s household can face — at a price point most employee-benefit categories cannot match.
  • An employee working through an unresolved medical bill or insurance denial is dealing with a real, time-consuming problem during working hours, whether or not it shows up on a timesheet.
  • A locally-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit benefit signals that an employer is willing to help with something real, not just offer another unused perk.

Includes, per enrolled employee:

  • Employee onboarding handout and an annual orientation webinar
  • Employee access to Major Claim Support and the Quick Guides library
  • A dedicated employer admin contact
  • The Monthly Wellness Program for every enrolled employee

Set up your business plan

Employee count varies, so this routes to us directly rather than a self-serve checkout — we’ll follow up to confirm enrollment and send a Stripe invoice sized to your business.

MBHA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit — your business plan payment funds a real employee benefit alongside the Alliance’s free community health education and outreach.

Employer questions

Is this health insurance, or a replacement for our benefits plan?

No. It is a navigation-and-advocacy benefit that helps enrolled employees use the insurance and assistance systems that already exist — it does not provide coverage itself.

Does it duplicate our Employee Assistance Program?

Most EAPs focus on counseling and referrals rather than hands-on help with medical bills, insurance denials and charity-care paperwork — the two are complementary, not overlapping.

What’s the minimum commitment?

Three enrolled employees and an annual term, priced at $250 one-time setup plus $50 per enrolled employee per year.

What does MBHA see about our employees’ health situations?

Nothing identifying. MBHA works directly and confidentially with each enrolled employee on their own bills, denials and paperwork — your dedicated employer admin contact receives enrollment and billing information only, never the details of a specific employee’s medical bills, claims or personal health information.

Questions

What’s the difference between the free call and membership?

The free 15-minute call tells you what kind of problem your bill looks like and one next step. Membership is where MBHA actually does the itemized bill review, the appeals, the charity-care paperwork and the negotiation.

What if I need help with more than one bill?

Your membership covers ongoing navigation support for your household’s medical bill and insurance issues for the full year — document prep time is billed at $20/hour regardless of how many bills it covers.

Can I cancel?

Membership dues are refundable in full within 14 days of payment, as long as you haven’t yet used any billable services (your orientation call or document-prep hours). After 14 days, or once those services begin, dues are non-refundable and your membership stays active for the rest of the paid year — there are no partial refunds for cancelling mid-year. Memberships do not auto-renew: we’ll email you before your renewal date so you can choose whether to continue. Recommended policy — board/CPA sign-off pending

Is my payment tax-deductible?

Generally, no. Because members receive services in return for their dues — the orientation, ongoing navigation support, resource access — the IRS treats membership fees as a quid-pro-quo payment, not a deductible charitable contribution. Any amount you give above the membership price may be deductible; check with your tax preparer for your specific situation. Recommended language — CPA sign-off pending

Included with every membership

The Monthly Wellness Program

Every MBHA member gets a complimentary Clarity Call to find their starting point, then a monthly wellness coaching email from a certified Holistic Health & Lifestyle Coach, built around a simple, approachable theme — nutrition, movement, mindfulness, nature and connection.

  • A free month of community membership — accountability, group challenges and shared support
  • A complimentary Clarity Call, based on availability
  • Discounted rates on 1:1 coaching, group programs and wellness events

Content is educational and motivational only, not healthcare. The coach does not diagnose or treat, and no personal health data is collected through this benefit — members with clinical needs are encouraged to seek appropriate care.
